Sister Eveleen Retreat House, situated on Scarborough Hill in Christchurch, was re-opened after earthquake repairs in 2019 and a new Sister Eveleen Retreat House Board of Governance was constituted. Since 2020 the House has been offering a variety of 2, 5, and 7 day retreats.

The Board is keen to expand our variety of retreats, especially 7-day retreats, so are extending an invitation to members of ACSD-ANZ to express interest in leading a retreat at Sr Eveleen. We offer reimbursement according to the number of days, the number of participants, whether there are presentations or not, and the number of individual spiritual direction sessions conducted.
We have recently remodelled the Annex wing so can now offer accommodation for 10 guests with 3 double rooms and 1 single in the House, and 3 monastic-style cells in the Annex. For a silent retreat, we recommend 1 Spiritual Director and a maximum of 6 retreatants. The House is very secluded with stunning views but is not wheelchair accessible.
We do not offer reimbursement of travel expenses to local Spiritual Directors. If you live outside Canterbury, we could negotiate some travel cost reimbursement, however that would need to be agreed before any retreat was advertised because that cost would need to be included in the advertised participant fee.
