Religious background
Although I have spent most of my life in the Anglican Church I have also been involved in churches of other denominations and interdenominational organisations. With a background in education, history and church ministry, I completed my formation training as a spiritual director through Spiritual Growth Ministries (SGM) in 2022.
While my roots are firmly in the Christian tradition, I am happy to work with those from other traditions, no particular tradition, or who are simply exploring.
Approach to spiritual direction
I love walking alongside people as they seek to explore and grow in their spirituality. During the session I invite you to share something of your experience with God or the Divine, or something that is happening in your life that you would like to explore from a spiritual perspective.
Examples might include:
- A time when you have felt God’s presence.
- An aspect of your faith journey
- Things going on in your life
- A decision or dilemma
- Questions such as, “where is God in this?” – or just, “where is God?!!”
- Something that has struck you or challenged you
- Spiritual practices – e.g. prayer, bible reading etc.
- A dream that seems to have significance
My role is to listen to both you and God, and to help you hear what God is saying to you. I do this primarily by listening attentivity, reflecting back, and asking questions designed to help you explore what is of divine significance to you. I may offer contemplative or creative activities, depending on your preferences.
While I love offering face-to-face sessions, I travel often so it is helpful if directees are open to having at least some sessions online.
