Religious background
I come from a non-christian home in the UK and my first known encounter with God was at the age of 7. I became a follower of Jesus through a Wesleyan Church and have been involved in house churches and church planting. I have also been involved in various denominations and non-denominational settings/churches throughout my life.
I have a professional background in mental health and therapy with lived experience of mental illness.
I tend to find and enjoy the presence of God in the outdoors, gardening and retreat places. As a young child I would take myself off to the fields near where I lived and have time with God, with my trusty bike.
I am open to any setting for spiritual formation work in line with what works for the person I am with.
Approach to spiritual direction
I see myself as an accompanying person alongside another discovering the presence, voice and discernment of God; what God may be saying through circumstances, personal history, relationships.
We are holistic people, physical, emotional and spiritual and I work with all these aspects of a person’s life to increase awareness and a sense of God’s presence and working.
Metaphorically I am companion gardener, with you and the Greatest Gardener, uncovering clearing sowing and reaping, pondering and wondering, waiting and being.
