Religious background
I grew up in Central Hawke’s Bay on a sheep farm. I love hills and green grass and value living currently in Island Bay where I enjoy the hills and the sea.
I went to Palmerston North Teachers’ College and Massey University after leaving school. I followed an inner call to begin my training as a Sister of Compassion in Island Bay, Wellington, in 1975. After my First Profession, I had a year at the school in Carterton and just loved the work. I have taught with other special children in Newtown-St Anne’s, and in Wilcannia-NSW Australia.
For many years, I have been involved in the operational changes of the Homes of Compassion. Outside structures have forced the Homes to change, and fewer women are entering Religious Life. Even though it has been challenging, looking back I see the Wisdom of God working in unexpected ways.
Approach to spiritual direction
I am excited by taking time to notice the small miracles and the grace- filled gifts each day.
