Becs Jamieson Spiritual Director

Religious background

I was raised in both Presbyterian and Baptist churches here in Aotearoa New Zealand. During my teenage years an active youth group played a significant role in shaping my faith as I came to know a God who truly knows and loves me. After getting married, my husband and I spent time living in the UK, where we were part of a Church of England congregation.

Today, my whānau and I are part of a large Anglican church, and in recent years I’ve found renewed life and freedom through contemplative Christian practices, which continue to nurture and deepen my spiritual journey.

Approach to spiritual direction

We all go through seasons when our connection to God feels distant or unfamiliar—when the spiritual practices that once sustained us no longer feel the same. At other times, life may be full of joy, and we simply long to share that with someone who sees the sacred in our stories. Whatever season you’re in—whether marked by clarity or confusion, celebration or searching—you’re not alone. We all need safe, sacred spaces to wonder, reflect, and listen for how God might be at work.

As a spiritual director, I offer a warm, welcoming space where you are invited to bring your whole self. I consider it a sacred privilege to accompany people as they explore the presence and movement of God in their everyday lives. Our time together is centered on you and your relationship with God. I offer deep listening, thoughtful questions, and space for silence and contemplation—creating room for you to notice and respond to the invitations of God. I’m also trained in Interactive Drawing Therapy, a creative tool we can incorporate into our sessions when it feels helpful.

In addition to being a spiritual director, I work as a pediatric Occupational Therapist and am also involved in pastoral care in my church community. I’m passionate about connecting with people and hearing their stories. I also find deep joy and renewal in spending time outdoors, where I often sense God’s presence in the beauty and rhythm of creation.
