Religious background
I was born and breed Catholic and joined the Sisters of Mercy in my forties having worked in administration, finance and business for 28 years. I have a diploma in Counselling (member of NZAC) and did my Spiritual Direction training with Spiritual Growth Ministries in 2014-2015.
My life has been enriched through over 18 years involved in pastoral and spiritual care in residential aged care, walking alongside people with different faith traditions and cultures. I have had amazing Spiritual Directors accompany me on the journey of my life – I now am privileged to do the same for others.
I believe life is a gift given by God and that “Our lives are not problems to be solved but journeys to be taken.”― Henri J. M. Nouwen, Spiritual Direction
Approach to spiritual direction
As a Spiritual Director, I am a soul friend to others. I value accompanying others as they search to deepen their relationship with the divine and grow in their own personal spiritual journey.
I am personally interested in the significance of dreams and how God communicates with us in our spiritual lives as well as the impact of loss and grief on our spirituality. Additionally, I am also interested by different personalities and how they complement and enrich our understanding of ourselves. I believe relationships are essential in helping us recognise ourselves a the unique individuals God created us to be, fostering our growth in compassion and forgiveness.
I appreciate the interconnectedness of body, mind, spirit and the cosmos which adds richness and beauty to each person. For me, “the real Director is the Holy Spirit hidden in the depths of our soul.” Thomas Merton.
Supervision
I offer supervision for counsellors, spiritual directors, and pastoral workers – in person or online. I have a certificate in supervision from the Coaching and Mentoring Centre in New Zealand. I am currently studying for the Graduate Diploma in Supervision at the Australian Catholic University.
