Religious background

My Past: Maori spirituality – christian pentecostalism – Elim – AOG – Baptist – all these are my experiences, some great, some spiritually abusive, which have taught me a great deal.
I can truly say I am thankful for the negative experiences because God has been so faithful in revealing truth about these situations. I can also recognise where I might have been unhelpful, spiritually abusive also in my ignorance and immaturity of faith.

Now: contemplative and creative, living in intentional community and loving the land, growing most of my own vegies, we grow our own fruit and work the land. I love art, painting and music, using voice and solitude and silence as my way of being religious.

Approach to spiritual direction

Kia Ora tatou, I offer SD, Supervision, Debriefing, retreats and Counselling at Peacemakers Retreat Centre https://peacemakersretreat.org.nz/ in Helensville West of Auckland, Tamaki Makaurau.

My approach is person centered, creative, exploratory and open to all things, all peoples, all journeys. I have a beautiful room to work in, horses to play with, to see your journey transformed by their presence. I use drawing, play, humour, symbol and dreams. If I know little about what you want to use, I will learn with you, you are my teacher in understanding God’s leading in your life.

I work with spiritual formation, living in wonder at how different we are, yet can draw on things like the enneagram, mbti to grow and mature. I work with spiritual abuse and parents of trans teens. This is a new learning, and it is a privilege to work alongside these people as they grow to understand God in all life’s journeying.

In 2021 I completed a Master of Professional Practice, culminating in making a short film, here it is here for you to watch. It is a tribute to SD’s and the art of Spiritual direction. Watch it here Let me know what you experience and think and share to those who would enjoy.
